With so many new members to our board over the past few weeks I thought I'd try and get their thoughts on what they think has been the greatest angle in wrestling. What angle did you never see coming? What event shocked you?
For me, the two that stand out most vividly are:
Eddie Gilbert joning the Russians, attacking Bill Watts and draping him in the Soviet flag.
Tommy Dreamer accidentally blinding Sandman in a match only for Sandman to come back several months later to cane the crap out of Dreamer.
Both were huge angles for their time and no one saw either one concluding the way they did.
Which angles are most vivid and most memorable for you guys/girls?

Keeping it indy related I'll name a few including some I didn't even see in person.
Dan Maff announces his "retirement" only to join La Familia in Jersey All Pro
The Haas Brothers deliver the Haas of Pain to the Briscoe Brothers mother
Tod Gordon showing up at an NWA show in Mt. Holly, NJ, and shooting on just about everybody in or out of the business
Sabu returns to ECW after wrestling for the NWA that afternoon in Camden, NJ (where several sheet writers had their car windows broken and things stolen)- this after months of ECW fans chanting "Fuck Sabu"
Jeff Peterson getting attacked by of all people JJ the Ring Crew Guy at the ECWA show in the Bob Carpenter Center. 1,471 legit people there to see Jeff, who just came back from his first bout with cancer, out there to greet the crowd only to have JJ clamp him in a Cobra Clutch.
Ace Darling joining up with Prince Nana and Royal Decision after just coming back to the ECWA and cheering on the Cheetah Master. Him congratulating Cheetah after pinning Xavier in a loser leaves town match then immediately hitting him with a DDT is a memory I will always cherish.
Pitbull 2 levelling Gino Moore with a chairshot at a Mt Holly show
Lance Diamond's slow heel turn when he won his Super 8
Boogie Woogie Brown's heel turn- which got the World's Oldest Living Teenager crying in hysterics and me, ever the gentleman, just standing there pointing at her and laughing my ass off
Shane Douglas shaking Gary Wolfe's halo, then Joel Gertner stubbornly insisting on announcing the end results of the match which got the entire locker room, which already emptied into the ring to get at Douglas, to now go after him
There are sooo many more that I can't think of right now...

Dan Maff's retirement angle wasn't all that originial IMO Pitbull nailing Gino with a chair wasn't an angle. Just my 2 cents as, while some of them were good angles, they really don't stick in my mind. (PS ECW and UWF were certainly indies) (PPSS To all the new posters, you'll notice that BilJim2 usually posts within minutes of a new post LOL)

Administrators need to be on top of their sites at all times!
Gino's chair shot was part of the Tod Gordon invading NWA angle with his ex-ECW workers.
I thought the retirement angle was pretty nifty because it played off of crap written on this Internet thingy and made a lot of people look really stupid.
Not us, of course.
Down the road we have to define what truly makes an indy- both ECW and UWF had TV and national syndication.
Welcome again to all new posters!

Blah, blah, blah.
If it's not WWE (WWF), WCW, or AWA.. it's an indy.
The Gino chair shot was NOT scripted, thus not an "angle".
Sabu returning to ECW was huge. So huge, I forgot all about it when I started this topic. LOL
The only 2 that vividly stick out in my mind, in all of wrestling, are the two that I mentioned earlier. Outside of those, the rest (while some were good and some horrible) didn't make a lasting impact on me.
It's easy to list 100 angles, however trying to narrow it down to the one or 2 best ones you've ever seen isn't that easy... now is it ?

Oh man three hours later...I'm falling down on the "job."
I don't know how you could forget Sabu's return- you were there! God, how awful was that NWA show in Camden?
And you didn't initially ask for just the two most vivid you asked for the greatest angle. Those are the ones I remember. So there.
(yes, we do fight like an old married couple- yikes, that should be great fodder for some people with too much time on their hands )
Instead of reading about us and our usual "bickering" let's get some other angles on here from everyone else.

I Loved when Terry Funk attacked Ric flair after he won the NWA World Title from Ricky Steamboad, then his interview where he had some one pretend to be Ric Flaid ( compeatt with the Yellow streak down his back ), and Finally the Plastic bag over his face.. that was just one awesome long angle that always stuck with me

Man there are so many, I couldn't name them all. I'm pretty much a fan of old school stuff only, so that's where my choices come from. A lot of the older fans will remember some of these:
Larry Zbyszko turns on Bruno,1979.-How could this NOT be on a list? The shock from thecrowd was great and the subsequent heat was amazing......Ray Stevens turns face against the Heenan family,1976. Stevens was cut off during interview for weeks and told to stay in the background. You could see it coming of course and he finally attacked Bockwinkel and "The Brain" during a TV interview!........Terry Funk attacks Dusty Rhodes before NWA title defense,1979. The Funker attacked and"broke" Dusty's arm, causing "The Dream" to lose the belt back to Harley Race in that match and starting a big feud between Rhodes and Funk....... Jimmy Snuka piledriven on concrete floor by Ray Stevens,1983. Another angle on TV that went over with huge heat and the "Superfly" sold it like he was dying! .......NWF Cleveland Riot,1973. A legit scary scene as the crowd started rioting when Ox Baker continually heart punched a prone Ernie Ladd. Chairs flew and struck the wrestlers and they had to make a dash for the exits! Not exactly an angle, but worth mentioning....... Ric Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich, 1982. Ref Michael Hayes KO's Flair and tells KVE to pin him. KVE refuses and gets the cage door smashing into his head by Freebird Terry Gordy, thus setting up the legendary Freebird/VE feud that would go on for years....... Crusher attacks Mad Dog Vachon,1971. Another scary moment as Da Crusher runs in during a MDV match and runs Dog's head into the pole. Vachon hits an artery when he blades & is gushing as bad as I've ever seen. Even the announcer Roger Kent is screaming for help! Great drama between two great legends!
There are a few for now! More coming soon as I think of them!

Go for it!! I have to admit, I forgot a lot of those great angles (which tells me I am senile OR they weren't all that great in my mind LOL). Although, Snuka being piledriven on the concrete floor was awesome.
